Explore a Jamaican farm and herbal garden in Ocho Rios. Discover tropical plants, traditional Jamaican herbs, bush teas, local food and island farming culture.
There is a side of Jamaica that you cannot fully experience from a hotel room or cruise ship.
You have to walk outside, touch the leaves, smell the herbs, see the fruit trees and listen to the stories behind the plants.
Welcome to our farm and herbal garden in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, where we share our love of farming, Jamaican herbs, food and traditional knowledge with visitors from around the world.
A Living Jamaican Garden
Our farm is not simply something for visitors to look at. It is a working space where we grow and care for a variety of plants.
Throughout the garden, visitors may discover Jamaican herbs, tropical fruit trees, seasonings and other useful plants. What is available will naturally change throughout the year because farming follows the seasons.
Some plants are familiar to visitors, while others often produce the question we love hearing:
“What is that?”
That question opens the door to a conversation.
We can talk about how Jamaicans traditionally use certain plants, how they are prepared as bush tea, how some are used in cooking and how knowledge of herbs has been shared through generations.
Our Jamaican Bush Tea Tradition
For many Jamaican families, herbal tea—or “bush tea”—is nothing unusual.
Long before herbal teas became popular around the world, Jamaicans were picking leaves, roots and other plant materials and preparing them at home.
Plants such as cerasee, soursop leaf, mint and many other Jamaican herbs have long been part of our traditional herbal culture.
Our garden gives us an opportunity to keep some of that knowledge alive while sharing it responsibly with visitors.
We enjoy explaining what the plants are and discussing their traditional uses, but we also believe traditional knowledge should not be confused with medical treatment. Our tours are educational experiences rather than medical consultations.
See Where Some of Our Herbs Begin
Our connection to herbs goes beyond the farm tour.
Some of the herbs grown and harvested on our farm are dried and prepared for our herbal products, including loose-leaf herbs and teas.
For customers who purchase Jamaican herbs from us, this creates an important connection.
You are not simply seeing a package of dried leaves—you can see the environment where some of these plants are actually grown.
Harvesting, drying and preparing herbs takes time and care, and visiting the farm helps people better appreciate that process.
Food, Farming and Culture in One Place
Our farm is also closely connected to our Jamaican food experiences.
The herbs, fruits, seasonings and plants growing around us help tell the story of Jamaican cooking. For generations, Jamaicans have relied on the land for both food and traditional household remedies.
That relationship between the garden and kitchen is something we want visitors to experience.
You may arrive because you are interested in herbs. You may come because you love Jamaican food. You may simply want a peaceful and different experience while visiting Ocho Rios.
Whatever brings you through our gate, we hope you leave knowing a little more about Jamaica than you did when you arrived.
Our farm and herbal garden is our way of sharing a piece of our island with you—one plant, one flavor and one story at a time.
Come walk the garden with us and discover the roots of Jamaica.
